Tripp Lite's SRCOOL33K is a computer room air conditioner designed for general computer room area cooling or supplemental cooling for large server rooms. This unit utilizes a novel compressor technology that drastically reduces energy consumption compared to standard air conditioning models. It employs an inverter-driven, DC (direct current) variable-speed compressor, a significant improvement over the typical AC (alternating current) compressor that operates at either 100% on or 100% off.

The SRCOOL33K's slow-start feature gradually spools up the compressor during startup, preventing the high in-rush current spikes common in AC-driven compressors. Instead of running at full capacity before shutting off completely, the SRCOOL33K starts at 25% of its maximum cooling capacity and gradually steps up to 100% as needed, maintaining just the right level of cooling. This "cruise control" approach minimizes power consumption and maximizes efficiency.

The unit's variable-speed, DC-inverter-driven compressor and microprocessor-controlled electronic expansion valve (EEV) enable precision cooling adjustments, promoting temperature uniformity from 1U to 42U and allowing equipment to perform at its peak. Unlike traditional on/off cycling, the SRCOOL33K settles into a highly efficient temperature maintenance mode after achieving the desired temperature, eliminating the massive power waste of constant cycling.
